Privacy policy

In short: Hearwise doesn't collect any data. It has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your documents and the voices stay on your iPhone.
What stays on your device
- The documents you add, their text, your listening position and your settings. They are stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone or iPad. Hearwise does not sync them anywhere. They are part of your normal device backup, as with any app.
- The speech. Hearwise's voices (the Kokoro-82M model) run on your device. The text being read is never sent to a server.
- Scans and photos. When you scan a page or pick a photo, the text is read from the image on your device (Apple's on-device text recognition). Hearwise keeps the text, not the image.
- Items you share to Hearwise from other apps go into a folder on your device that only Hearwise can read, and are imported from there.
When Hearwise uses the internet
- Web links you add. Hearwise downloads that page directly from its website, like a browser would. That website sees an ordinary request from your device (including your IP address), under its own privacy policy.
- Purchases. Hearwise Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles payment; Hearwise never sees your payment details or Apple Account. The app asks the App Store on your device whether you have Pro.
Nothing else is sent. Hearwise has no servers of its own and no third-party code that collects data.
Permissions
- Camera: only when you choose to scan pages, to read the text on them.
- Photos: only the photos you pick, through Apple's photo picker.
Third parties
Hearwise shares nothing with third parties, and nothing is sold.
Children
Hearwise is suitable for everyone and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
